Promethazine

Promethazine is a prescription drug that is part of a category of medication known as antihistamine. It works by blocking the effects of histamine, a chemical produced naturally by the body.

Antihistamines like Promethazine act minimizing the impact of histamine in response to sources of physical irritations such as allergic reactions.

The use of Promethazine may cause extreme drowsiness at any time of the day. It is not recommend for patients taking Promethazine to practice hazardous activities or to operate dangerous machinery during their treatment. Children taking Promethazine and that are performing activities that require alertness such as are bike-riding, roller-skating, or playing while under the drug‘s effect must be supervised closely by their parents.

Promethazine pills

Promethazine pills are prescribed for the treatment of the symptoms of allergic reactions including itching, runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, hives, and itchy skin rashes.

Promethazine pills are also prescribed for the prevention of motion sickness, as well as for the treatment of nausea and vomiting, as a sedative or sleep aid or even to relieve pain after certain surgery.

Promethazine is not for use in treating symptoms of asthma, pneumonia, or other lower respiratory tract infections.

Promethazine 25mg

Promethazine medication is an antihistamine effective at relieving nasal stuffiness and inflammation and red, inflamed eyes caused by hay fever and other allergies.

The drug can also be prescribed for the treatment of physical irritations such as itching, swelling, and redness from hives and other rashes; allergic reactions to blood transfusions; and, with other medications, anaphylactic shock.

Promethazine 25mg is the most commonly prescribed adult dosage of the medication. It is to be taken twice, daily. A first dose is to be taken within 1 hour before traveling, and the second dose 8 to 12 hours after the first one.
